How does this information Support Wegener's idea?
That glaciers covered areas which are now tropical, while at the same time we see that areas which are now temperate or boreal, indicates that either the poles were in different positions than they are today, which is not supported by the evidence we have, or that the position of the continents was quite different from what it is today - so that tropical areas were much more northern or southern, and that areas currently not in tropical latitudes, were at that time. The fact that at the same time we see both glaciated and tropical areas tells us that the world still had similar climate patterns as it does today, with very warm and very cold areas of the planet, but the fact that the cold areas and warm areas were dramatically shifted, indicates that the continents themselves were at different latitudes - backing up the theory of continental drift!!
